An easy piece that is sure to get your beginning students excited. Piece includes parts that isolate woodwinds, brass, and percussion sections to build confidence in their playing. All notes stay within the Concert Bb Scale. I hope you and your ensemble enjoy! S.D.G.

What's On the Menu? is a piece designed for young musical ensembles. The piece can be used to teach young ensembles about dynamics, accidentals, and rhythms in a fun, groovy way. After listening to this, you may be humming this tune next time you are ordering something to eat. S.D.G.

Musical sketches are informal documents that a composer writes out, think of an artist and a sketchbook. These sketches can range greatly in detail from small musical motifs (themes) to larger works. Adventure Sketch is a three movement work with motifs that were inspired by music from different parts of the world. Mvmt. 1 Embark (Measures 1-38) is inspired by early British Wind Band music where a simple motif (typically a folk song) is played and is then carried to other musical instruments, and may include some variations. You will hear the motif in the flutes at the beginning and it will carry through to different instruments throughout. Mvmt. 2 To a Far Off Land (Measures 39-70) is inspired by music from the middle east with the note selection akin to that style of music. The wood blocks allude to our adventurer traveling on horseback. Mvmt. 3 The Return (Measures 70-end) ends the work with energy and excitement. A return home from a long journey.
